Mengeche Derso – Ethiopia
Charming and elegant natural processed coffee grown in the highlands by Mr. Derso in Yirgacheffe in southern Ethiopia. Mr. Derso is in his 60s and has 12 children, four of whom are adults and also help out on the coffee farm.
Coffee from Ethiopia can usually be traced back to the washing station where the coffee is washed and processed, so it is unusual for an Ethiopian coffee to be traceable all the way back to the individual farm and coffee farmer. Mr. Derso is known in the area for his exceptional product and his many years of experience, which is why it is possible to get coffee directly from his two farms.
Mr. Derso's 15 hectares of land are located 2,300 meters above sea level, and the soil is reddish-brown and iron-rich with a high acid content, which influences the taste of the coffee: sweet and juicy with prominent fruit notes.
