Kindeng Mill – Papua New Guinea
ORIGIN
This coffee is from the Jiwaka province of Papua New Guinea and can be traced back to the Kindeng Dry Mill, where coffee from farms in Arufa and Kindeng is processed. The area is the Western Highlands, where the soil is a fertile mix of clay, silt and sand, and the hilly landscape with many rivers and valleys helps to maintain a cooler temperature that is ideal for growing coffee.
The majority of coffee from Papua New Guinea is grown by small producers on very small farms - so small in fact that they are called “coffee gardens” instead - and this is also the case here. Natural processed coffee is not particularly widespread in Papua New Guinea, but can be sourced at Kindeng Dry Mill, where the coffee has been given distinctive perfumed berry notes and a freshness that is unusual for a natural processed coffee.
