Getuya – Kenya
Deep, complex, and juicy coffee from the Getuya factory in Kirinyaga. Kirinyaga is located in central Kenya at the foot of the country's largest mountain, Mount Kenya. This means that the coffee is grown in red, clayey, and acidic soil, which naturally leaves its mark on the notes, offering lemon zest, tropical fruit, and elegant acidity.
The Getuya factory is managed by the Mwirua Farmers Cooperative Society, which was founded in 1954. The Mwirua Farmers Cooperative Society is a particularly resourceful cooperative that now owns nine different production facilities and is distinguished by its stable management and active membership. As a result, the cooperative functions as a strong network for small producers who own very little land and would not be able to handle the coffee processing process on their own.
